Qman 1132 Bun Shop Set Review (Not Lego)

Hey and welcome back to my Its Not Lego blog!  Today's set review is this Bun shop by Qman brand.  This is the first Qman set to be added to my collection of not Lego building sets.

TL:DR

Here's the synopsis, if you just want the details.

    Model: Qman Bun Shop
    Set Number: 1132
    Number of pieces: 112
    Number of minifigures: 2
    Fake Lego?  No.
Missing Parts: N/ Deformed pieces: N/ Scratched pieces: N
#itsnotlego Rating:  3 out of 5 stars.  The set is ok for the price but the minifigures are not Lego standard.

Here are the other Qman sets listed on the back of the instruction booklet.  There are six other sets in this series of City themed buildings and vehicles.  Set numbers range from 1131 through 1137.

There's just 1 bag of parts for this small set.  I think the set name is supposed to be Golden Baozi shop but Qman got the english spelling wrong, so it's called Gloden Baozi shop.

Sadly, no printed parts. Here's the sticker sheet.  You can see that in the lower corner, it's printed as Enlighten 1132.  So Qman is a sister brand to Enlighten.  As with most Enlighten brand sets, the brick quality and clutch is pretty good.  The clear parts are not scratched or deformed.

The minifigures that come with this set are not compatible with Lego minifigures.  Here you can see that even the parts that make the minifigs are completely different.  I can't even salvage any of it for use with other minifigs.  I'll just end up giving these figures away.

Here's how the minifigs look after assembly.  You get one boy and one girl minifigure and I think the boy works in the shop because he has an order pad in his pocket. I've included a couple of random Lego style minifigures in the picture for comparison purposes.

This is a very easy build and a good beginner set for little kids.  The shop is pretty basic but it has a light fixture, a computer for taking orders and some sauce bottles. I like the little buns and the steamers on the counter.

The yellow brick that sticks out is supposed to be a sign which you get a sticker for.  There's also stickers for the store banner, the computer screen and menu above the steamers. I didn't add any of the stickers yet.  I think Qman did a good job in designing the steamer fixture above the shop.

Other sets this size don't usually have a back wall but this bun shop does.  It even has a door and curved glass wall.  I wonder if they could have just made a solid wall instead of the curved glass.  If I were to rebuild this set, I would add my own bricks to complete the back corner and then move the curved window to the front of the shop.  The set also comes with a table and stool so patrons can sit and enjoy their buns.

Summary

The Qman 1132 Gloden Baozi Shop is a nice little build for the younger kids.  At just 122 pieces, it's not too challenging but will have a lot of play value.  One could add more tables and have lots of minifigs come and enjoy the buns.  If I could change anything, it would be to have standard Lego style minifigures and having extra buns.  I paid about $5 Cdn from Aliexpress for this set.  That included the free shipping.

Enlighten 103 Not Lego Police Station Set Review

Way before there were Lego bootleg brands such as Lepin, Hsanhe and Wange, there was the Enlighten Brand of brick toys.  Enlighten has been creating building block sets for quite a number of years and today I'm posting pics of one of their earlier sets, the Enlighten 103 Police Station building set.

This set consists of a small modular style building on a small baseplate, a black motor tricycle and three minifigures.  I think there are 110 pieces in this set.

Here's the trike that comes with the set.  It should be noted that I completely disassembled this set a long time ago and although I found most of the pieces again recently, there are some parts I had to substitute because I couldn't find the original parts that came with the set.

There are supposed to be three minifigs with this set, two police officers and some delivery guy with a backpack.  I can't find any of the original minifigs, so I just used some similar ones for the police.  The delivery guy is totally missing so I didn't replace him for the picture review. I'm sure he's around somewhere.

The baseplate is interesting in that it has a parking pad for the trike.

For such a small set, it has quite a few interior accessories.  You get a control center with printed bricks, a fire extinguisher, a plant and a small table with two mugs.  The chair even swivels.

I was checking to see how much this set costs presently on Aliexpress and I found a few but they were not cheap at about $11 USD.  I think I paid about $7 a few years back.

Here are the instructions to build this set, if anyone is interested in trying to bricklink it.

Brand: Enlighten
Series: Police series
Model:  103 Police station
Number of pieces: 110

Enlighten 1120 Not Lego Camper Truck Set Review

Hi there, today I will review the Enlighten brick set model 1120 which is called the Pleasant Trip Camper.   This set was released in 2015.

This 380 piece set is an original design and is not a bootleg of any Lego set.  I didn't realize that this camper is larger than I thought.  It comes with a family of 4 mini figures.

The Enlighten brick quality has the same feel and finish as Lego but I did notice that the clutch is a bit too tight.  Once you snap the bricks together, it's really hard to pry them apart.   Luckily Enlighten provides a blue separator tool.

The good thing about this set is that there is a lot of attention to detail.  There's so much going on it's hard to know where to begin.  I'll start from the front and work towards the back.  In the front passenger seat, there is a navigation screen.  This is something I've never seen in any Lego set.

The four seats are not your regular Lego seats, but these custom reclining pieces.  In the back of the camper, you get a small fridge, a sink and a cooking surface.  There's some small bottles and a mug too.

Now one thing that I'm not sure if I like is the fact that this camper is 8 studs wide instead of the standard 6 studs.  If I park this vehicle next to my other Lego type vehicles, this one will look a lot wider than the rest.  At some point, I might decide to rebuild the Enlighten camper as six studs wide.

Here's some of the accessories that come with the set.  There's a camera, a mountain bike with rubber tires, a barbeque grill, a garbage can, some goblets, two fry pans and a pair of fish.

Here's the mini figure family. They look a bit like hippies, especially the dad with his floral shirt.  The son and daughter minifigs have shorter legs but these are unique because they still can bend at the waist.  The print quality is good.

You also get a small 8x8 stud that represents a patch of grass, a palm tree and some 2x2 tiles with sea shells on them.

Here's the completed camper.  On the camper roof, there is a solar panel, and an antennae.  There are even roof rails and a shovel.

One the side of the camper is a fire extinguisher.

On the other side is a small axe.

The camper comes with rolling wheels and rubber tires but the rims are not as nice as the standard Lego rims.

At the back of the camper, there is a ladder to access the roof.  You also have a clamp to hang the mountain bike from.

The solar panels and antennae both can tilt.

The back of the camper divides into two and folds open behind the front seats for easy play access.

Despite the 8 stud width, there's so much stuff in the camper, it still feels cramped.  I could put the barbecue grill into the back, but there's no room inside for the garbage can.

Here's a closer look at the barbecue grill.

One thing I had to change from the original instructions was to move the windows from the middle of the camper to the rear.  By doing this, I can give the son and daughter mini figures, some elbow room.  If I didn't do that, it would be hard to close the back of the camper properly.

Here's a few more pics.

There were no missing or deformed pieces in this set but no extra pieces either.  I should point out that the colours of the corresponding bricks in the instruction manual don't match the actual brick colours, so novice builders might get a bit confused.

In summary, it's a nice looking vehicle with lots of extra features but the 8 stud width doesn't make the Enlighten camper fit with my other Lego compatible cars and trucks.  Also the brick clutch is a bit too tight for my liking.

Enlighten 1104 Not Lego Street Roller Set Review

The Enlighten 1104 Street Roller.

For 2016, I found that Enlighten Blocks have released quite a few City sets.  This Street Roller caught my eye.

The set number is 1104 and came out in the summer of 2016.  It's not a big set because it only consists of 102 pieces.  They all come in one bag and a separate small sticker sheet.

This two sided instruction sheet also comes with the street roller set.

The second page of the instruction sheet.

The sticker sheet got munched.

Here's all the parts.  It comes with one mini figure.

The assembled street roller.  I like that the colour is a light green and not the typical yellow of other construction vehicles.

The right side has a chrome exhaust pipe.

There's a couple of vents where the engine is supposed to be at the rear of the vehicle.

On the left side, a pick is attached.

Despite being quite small, I actually enjoy the look of this little street roller.

Thanks for looking!
