The FunWhole Free Gift: The Chili Dog Trailer F9046

Hey brick fans, this will be a quick review of the FunWhole Chili Dog Trailer set F9046!  This set was a giveaway from FunWhole that was announced on their Facebook page, back in October 2024. FunWhole indicated that there were imperfections in the set and therefore it could not be sold.   To avoid wasting the product, FunWhole decided to give it away instead!

I signed up right away and it was sent to me superfast.

I just found out that  version 2.0 the Chili Dog Trailer set is now available on the FunWhole website!

Review

My review will look at the first version of the Chili Dog Trailer.   Here are the three steps to constructing the Chili Dog Trailer.

Step1: Build the interior

Step2: Build the exterior

Step 3: Add the roof and the display features

Unboxing

All FunWhole kits come with a custom light kit and the components are packaged in the two orange pouches.  There are two minifigures that come in a bag marked F.  Finally there is a service card for support or missing parts replacement.

The minifigures: Carlos is the Chili Dog vendor and the other person is a customer.
Here's the lighting components that are in pouch #1.

Pouch 2 contains a battery pack and a screwdriver to open the battery case.  Instructions are included, but you have to provide your own CR2032 watch battery.

Parts bags are numbered according to the steps they are used in.  Twelve bags of parts in total if you include the minifigures.

Building the set

Step 1 was pretty easy to build.  The interior of the trailer has a sink, a grill and assorted jars and knicknacks.

Moving on to step 2, we can continue to furnish the inside and add accessories.

Here's some shots of the exterior.  The side says "Sizzle On!  Breads", lol.

On one side there is a window with the words HotD.

The rest of the word HotDog ends up on the front of the trailer.  The printed signs are pretty cool.  Lighting features include the outdoor spotlight and lighting for the inside of the trailer.

The side door opens to provide access to the interior.

Here is step 3 completed.  The roof, Chili Dogs sign and the umbrella are added, as well as the streetlamp and condiments table.   All printed parts and no stickers!   I opted to use the additionally provided USB plug instead of the watch battery power source for my lighting.

Here's a sampling of some of the printed parts and accessories that come with the set.  You even get cats and rats!

These were the leftover parts.  Aside from some spelling mistakes on the signage, I really couldn't find what was the issue that prevented FunWhole from selling the trailer.  Maybe some of the parts were a different colour white?  That's the only thing that I could think of.  I should mention that the Chili Dog Trailer is the first step in the new Street Fusion theme of sets being put out by FunWhole.  There are two more sets in this series that I'm aware of:  The Skate Shop and the Record Store.  Hopefully I'll have a chance to review both of those sets too!
