Lepin 15011 Not Lego Detective's Office Set Review - Part Two

Hello, welcome back to http://its-not-lego.blogspot.com.  This post is a continues building of the Lepin 15011 Detective's Office bootleg Lego Set.   This post will focus on the second floor.  If you want to see the first floor build, go here.  I am following the Lepin instruction manual and trying  to document with pictures the progression of building the Detective's Office.

Step 20.

After the first 20 steps of building the second floor, we now have the upper stairwell and bathroom constructed.

Here's the side view of what we have accomplished so far.  The small bathroom has an angled doorway, a toilet and sink.

Back view.  Walls up, but no windows yet.

Step 30.

Here we are on step 30.  Got some furniture delivered even before the detective's office is completed.

The mysterious lady in red shows up early for her appointment.  Guess she can keep the file cabinet company.

There are now windows on the bathroom side of the second floor.

Step 40.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The second floor of the detective's Office is now substantially complete after step 40 of the Lepin instruction manual.

Walls and windows added to the remainder of the second floor.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
More importantly, the Detective's office is now fully furnished with a desk, a hat rack, a fan and some pictures on the wall.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
Due to the tight space, it's hard to show what the inside of the office looks like.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
I like the outside window detailing that says "Ace Brickman Private Detective".

Step 44.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office

Here are pictures of the Detective's Office completed second floor.   Want to point out the giant tiger cub that I got with the Lepin set.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
I think the police are responding to reports of a giant tiger club wandering around.

Look, there it is, in front of Al's barber shop.

I tried to get a few more shots of the inside of the Detective's office on the second floor.

Lepin 15011 Not Lego Detective's Office Set Review - Part One

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office

This week, I added a new modular building to my ever growing Lepin town, the Detective's Office set number 15011.   This post will look at the construction of the first floor of this set.  I will take pictures of the build after completing every ten steps from the instruction manual.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
Here's the cover art which Lepin has copied directly from Lego.  The Lepin set has 2262 pieces which is the same as the Lego version.

Step 10.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office

The Lepin Detective's Office comes with a 32x32 stud brown baseplate.  The Lepin baseplate is thicker than the original Lego version. The sidewalk tiles have been laid and the pool hall is getting built around the little pool table.

Step 20.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The pool hall walls are up and the doors and windows are going in.  The ceiling fan above the pool table is a cool feature.  You can even swing it aside, if you want.

Here's a closer look at the ceiling fan.  It has a light fixture underneath it.  From this view, you can see the trophy case and also the dart board.

You can access the pool hall by either the front or back door.

The pool table accessories include three pool cues and even a rake.  The pool hall is a good size and you could probably fit quite a few minifigs into it.

Step 27.

Here are the printed front windows.  They are only slightly scratched, but you can't really tell.

Nothing much has changed at the rear of the building.

Step 32.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The floor tile for the barber shop has been laid.

Step 40.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The barber shop walls are going up and some of the furniture is going in.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
Here's the back of the barber shop.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The cabinet on the rear wall has a secret exit out the back if you push it aside.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
Next to the sink and under the folding staircase, there is another trap door.   This is where they smuggle the barrels underneath the outside passageway.

I was expecting the mirror to be all scratched up, but it came with a film on the reflective side of the piece which protected it's finish.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
At this point, I'd like to point out that the two piece tile that rotates the barber chair is defective. It is too loose and therefore the chair does not stay in place.

Either the hole is too big on the plate, or the pin of the round tile is too small.  I have a few of these pieces in my brick stash so I will be replacing it in the near future.

Step 50.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
Here's the front facade of the pool hall and barber shop after completing step 50.

A closer look at the hair pieces inside the barber shop.

The side view of the barber shop.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office

The first floor is almost completed.  You get six minifigures with this set, but I've only pictured four of them here.  From left to right, you get a police woman figure, the mysterious lady in red, the detective and a pool hall patron.  Not pictured is another pool hall patron figure and the barber.

Step 57.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
The first floor of the Detective's Office is now completed.  The barber shop is finished off with the barber pole and the Al's signage.

its-not-lego.blogspot.com, lepin 15011 detectives office
For busy days at the barber shop, there is a small bench for customers to sit and wait.

Now that the first floor is complete, we can move on to the second floor of the Detective's Office.  Post coming soon to http://its-not-lego.blogspot.com.

Lepin 15010 Not Lego Parisian Restaurant Set Review - Part Three

This is the third and final post about the Lepin 15010 Parisian Restaurant and today we will finish off the third floor and roof.

Part one of my Lepin Parisian restaurant can be found here and part two can be found here.

Third Floor Steps 1 thru 10

The building instructions for the third floor of the Lepin restaurant begin on page 57 of the instruction booklet.  Nothing too exciting as we start adding walls to the third floor base plate.

Back side view.

Steps 11 thru 20.

Now the fun begins.  Here's a look at the architectural details of the third floor.  I understand that the original Lego arched windows have a diagonal grill. That's pretty much the only difference for this stage of the building.

Another look.

We see the interior starting to take shape.  The artists studio has a couple of easels and a stand with paint brush.

There's another fireplace on the third floor.

Steps 21 through 39.

Yay, we have not completed the third and final floor of the Parisian restaurant.

Here's a look at how the back panel flips out to give you access to the artist studio interior.

Unlike the second floor fireplace this one has a sturdy hinged door. to keep the flames in.

This side view shows the door entrance detail with it's colourful awning and a potted plant.

Here's the same look, but with the roof closed up.

The chimey design and masonary details are continued from the second floor.

The completed structure viewed from rear.  You can see how the staircase connects the second and third floor together.  As mentioned before, I like how there is a drainage pipe incorporated into the building design.

Side view.

Front view.

Finally, here's all the minifigures that come with the Lepin set.

My 4th Lepin modular building is now complete.  This set was one of the smallest buildings as compared to the Lepin Town Hall and Fire Brigade which appear much larger.  However, the detailed kitchen and patio, the second floor apartment and third floor artist studio make up for the size difference.  Definitely my favourite features are the front facade, the murphy bed on the second floor and the two fireplaces with the masonary chimneys.  Despite it's smaller size, this was a really fun build.

Time to focus my attention to the next building, which is the Lepin Detective's office set 15011.   Another review on the way.
