Hi folks!  It's been awhile since I cleaned up my display of Its-Not-Lego town, so, tada, here it is.  Pictured above are some of my modular buldings (but not all!).  Anyone who is a fan of modulars will already be familiar with many of the buildings.  Let's take a closer look.

Hsanhe Mini Street Not Lego Modular Building Set List - 2016

I created this blog post today to consolidate everything I know about the Hsanhe brand of small modular buildings, in case you are looking for them.

These little modulars were originally proposed to Lego Ideas CUUSOO back in 2012, but were rejected by Lego.  Here's the link:  https://ideas.lego.com/projects/15229.

There are six modular shops that feature well known store brands such as McDonalds, Starbucks, Kentucky Fried Chicken, etc.  They are part of the Hsanhe series called Mini Street.  To avoid trademark infringements, the Hsanhe brand changed the names and logos of the stores.

These six buildings are minifigure scale and each set comes with two different minifigures, typically a shop clerk and a customer.  Please note that Hsanhe makes a smaller set of shop buildings that are not minifigure scale.  I've seen some errant listings for them on Aliexpress, where they depict standard minifigures standing next to the smaller buildings, but you would be disappointed if you got those ones because they are a different scale and the smaller building sets don't come with any minifigures, so please be careful when ordering.

Here's the list of the six modular buildings:

Shop Name Hsanhe Model Name         Set Number           Number of Pieces
Dunkin Donuts      Sweet Shop 6409-1 193
Apple Store Apple Store 6409-2 184
Starbucks Corner Coffee 6410-1 190
Seven Eleven Seven Shop 6410-2 208
KFC KFE Shop 6411-1 188
McDonalds Fast Food Shop 6411-2 194

Here are some pictures of the set packaging.  I've also customized some of the building sets to make them bigger and added more details.   Links to my set reviews and customizations can be found below.

The Sweet Shop 6409-1

Sweet shop MOD coming soon!

The Apple Store 6409-2

The Corner Coffee 6410-1

The Seven shop 6410-2

The KFE shop 6411-1

The Fast Food Restaurant 6411-2

Fast food MOD coming soon!

I got the entire set of buildings off Aliexpress for about 5 or 6 USD each, but that was back in June 2016 and I think due to their popularity, the prices of the little modular sets have gone up to just under $10 USD each.

Hsanhe 6410-2 Not Lego Seven Convenience Store (7-11) Set Review

No modular town is complete unless you have a Seven convenience store.  Notice that Hsanhe  called it Seven, and not Seven-Eleven and that the logo is just a bit different.  This is one of the six small modular buildings in the Mini Street series.  There are 208 pieces in this set.

The Seven convenience store comes with a large sheet of instructions that is double sided.  You also get a small sticker sheet for the building logos.  This little modular is very easy to build and the clutch is excellent.  It will integrate well with your existing Lego or alternate Lego brick sets.

This building comes with two mini-figures, just like the rest of the other Hsanhe sets.  You always get one male and one female minifigure.  In this set we have a male employee and a female customer.

This set comes with a green recycle bin and a small light stand in the front of the store.  I found the light too small and chose not to include it here.  In the manufacturer's picture at the top, you can see the little light.  Instead I chose to put a trash can in it's place .

Here's the interior of the Seven shop.  You enter through the center door which has an air conditioner above it.  Hanging from the ceiling are two pendant lights. There is a counter with some product and a small cash register.  Behind the counter is another shelf with stuff.

There are even more items for sale on the other side of the shop. The shelves are jam packed with stuff.  Looks like they have fully restocked the merchandise.

There's so much stuff, that there's hardly any room to move.  Behind the counter there's even stuff on the floor.

So the owner of the Seven store just hired a new employee, and on his first day at work, he's getting robbed!

I think it is a very dangerous job to be a convenience store clerk, especially at night.  This robber is actually pointing a gun at the poor store employee.   Just give him the cash and hope he goes away.

I added a security camera (doesn't come with this set) for situations like this.  Sadly, the robber is a masked bandit (head courtesy of Batman Bane minifig), so I don't think any arrest will be made.  Just hope the poor store employee did not get harmed.

Finally, just some pictures of the Hsanhe convenience store next to some other modular buildings. I have some 16x32 baseplates coming in the mail. I plan on expanding and making the Seven store a full modular building like the KFE building next door.   I will also put a second storey on it in the near future.

Hsanhe 6409-2 Not Lego Apple Store Set Review

Today, I will review another small Modular Building from the Hsanhe Mini Street series.  There are six building sets in the series, and this one is the Apple Store 6409-2 which has 184 pieces.

The Apple store building is probably the most plain building out of the six buildings in Hsanhe's series.   The building front consists of two floor to ceiling windows flanking a door with a plain black facade.  The remainder of the building is composed of light gray bricks.   Extra features on the front include a small tree, with flowerbed and a fire hydrant.

This set comes with two minifigures, a male mini figure in a suit and a female mini figure.  I'm pretty sure that the female mini figure is the store employee, because I've never seen an Apple employee in a business suit in their stores.

Since the front of the building is so non-descript, I'll focus on the back of the building instead.  Like the other Hsanhe buildings, this one is six studs wide.  On either side of the interior are transparent shelves where boxes of Apple products can be purchased.

Above the door, there are 4 grills that I assume is the ventilation system.  I attached my own light brick to the ceiling, since this set came with no ceiling light fixtures.

Here are the mini figures inside the store to give you an idea of the relative size of the building.  The store comes with two point of sale counters.  It's hard to see what they look like inside the store.

This is probably a better view of the store interior with the two computer stations.

The store also comes with external signage and a sticker sheet for the Apple logos, which I declined to affix to the building.  You can also see how the computer terminals look like.

Well there you have this quick review of the Hsanhe Apple store.  I chose not to apply the stickers because I plan to add more bricks to this building and make it a full modular building as I did with the modified Hsanhe KFC building.   I'm thinking this might be a very easy building to integrate into the side of a Lepin modular, but I haven't decided which one yet.

Since this building is very plain, I would not recommend buying this set as your first Hsanhe modular.  Instead, the Corner Coffee (aka Starbucks) model or the Fast Food (aka McDonalds) models are more interesting visually so I would get one of those ones first.  If however, you already have some other modular buildings, this one is easy to integrate into other buildings, because the facade is very simple.

Hsanhe 6411-2 Not Lego McDonalds Restaurant Set Review

It's time for another building set review.  Today, it is the Hsanhe Fast Food Restaurant.  It's part of the Mini Street series.  This model number is 6411-2 and it has 194 pieces and two minifigures.  As mentioned in a previous post this small modular building is part of Hsanhe's six building offering of different shops.

The first thing you might notice about this set is that there is no mention of McDonalds, even though it's obviously copying the logo design and colour scheme, right down to the happy box handle on the roof.   Please be reminded that Lego never produced any set like this, so it's not a Lego bootleg.

In this set, we find a male customer minifigure and a restaurant employee minifigure.

Just in case you wanted to see how they looked from behind, here's the pic.  The customer looks to be wearing a hoodie.   Both figures are near Lego quality in fit and finish.

The restaurant has seating for two with a table and umbrella.  There is also a small flower patch and fire hydrant.  I chose to swap the locations of the two because it was awkward for the customer to be setting right next to the hydrant.  Our customer is getting ready to eat his hamburger and the store employee looks like he might be delivering an order.  McDonalds don't do deliveries in Canada, but I know they do in the big cities in Japan.  Does McDonald's deliver food to you in your country?

Here's a side view of our fast food joint.   The sizable awning gives good protection from the rain and sun.

Around back, we can see the inside of our fast food restaurant.  It's a little dark, but there's a cash register and order microphone on the counter.  Looks like someone forgot their burger order.  There's a grill to cook a burger with some condiments.  Above the grill is a storage container.

When you come into the restaurant, there is a counter for eating.  I put some ceiling lights on the inside but they ended up being too low because the ceiling is not that high.

Our Hsanhe restaurant is in a good location with lots of traffic and sales, so we could justify hiring another employee.  She's a trainee, so please be kind to her.

Here's the trainee pointing out how low the ceiling lights are hanging. She hits her head on them all the time.

Ok, so the lights were a bad idea, so we got the trainee to take them down.

Let's do some minor renovation to the fast food restaurant.  First let's remove the roof.

We definitely need a higher ceiling, so let's add a row of bricks, and make it easier to remove the roof in future.

Ta-da, new higher ceiling.

But wait, we're not finished. Let's add some real lights to the building using a couple of 2x3 light blocks.

Our trainee doesn't have to work in the dark anymore, yay!

Looks like customers and employees are happy with the higher ceiling and new lights.
Well, that's it, thanks for looking at our slightly enhanced Hsanhe Fast Food Restaurant modular.
